HTC One mini – Review and review

It’s been a long time since I told you about this test. I plead guilty he stayed a little aside. But here it is, and after this waiting time my vision of this phone is all the more precise.

I had presented to you a moment ago the HTC One , a really well finished and well equipped smartphone rivaling the best on the market. I offer you today a test of its mini version. The term mini can make it pass for tiny but it is in fact the same size as an iPhone 5 for comparison. This smartphone is part of an evolving category. Indeed, the most prestigious phones are now available in their mini version (Galaxy S4 and S3 mini, Xperia Z1f). While the mini versions of Samsung smartphones have features really below their predecessors, we will see if this is also the case for the HTC One mini.We will see in this article the test of the main features of this phone, advantages and disadvantages.

Is this version so different from its big brother?

First of all at the hardware level:

  • Processor : A Dual core for the mini against a Quad core for the One. (1.4GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400)
  • Storage : 16GB for the mini against 32GB for the One.
  • Screen : 4.3 inches (1280 × 720, 342 pixels per inch) against 4.7 inches.
  • RAM : 1GB versus 2GB for the big brother.
  • Battery : 1800 mAh against 2300 mAh
  • No NFC for the mini.
  • Android version : 4.2.2

The One mini is therefore a notch below in terms of hardware compared to the classic One. We will therefore see together if these material differences have an impact on the use of the terminal.

The difference in material power does not really affect the fluidity of use of the phone . No slowdowns or hardware shortcomings, the configuration is very suitable for the phone.

Unpacking – Overall appearance

In the box, no surprise : Telephone / cable / charger / headphones. The minimum, the essential.

Pleasant materials. The phone has aluminum on the back and top and bottom on the front. The aluminum is quite cold but it is caught by the white plastic lathe of good quality.

Knowing that the iPhone 5 for example has a 4 inch screen, with its 4.3 inch the term “mini” is therefore completely relative. The rendering is really very well contrasted and the screen is among the best on the market. It has one of the best contrast / brightness ratios in the sector (Contrast: 1132: 1, maximum brightness: 479 cd / m²).  This is THE great asset of this phone. Let’s say it clearly.

HTC has developed a shooting option called  Zoe . This option takes  5 photos before pressing the shutter button and 15 others afterwards as well as a 3 second video. Zoe can do wonders. Indeed, the editor then allows you to choose the best photo among those captured, also to remove unwanted individuals from a photo or even to be sure that everyone makes a beautiful smile.

The Smart Flash function  automatically adapts the power of the flash among five levels according to the distance from the subject.

Thanks to the Ultrapixels function, the sensor can do the splits. It is comfortable everywhere and even in really low light. That’s truly impressive. He would take pictures with  300% more light.

For videos, a lot of options are available and you can for example film in slow motion or in HDR mode…
